Dr. Sahra Wagenknecht on COVID-19 Vaccine Supply

“Finally some good news: The vaccines currently available in Germany also seem to work against the novel mutations of the coronavirus. The bad news is that there aren’t enough vaccines available to get everyone who wants to get it in a manageable amount of time. And older people, of all people, who need a safe vaccination most urgently, were hardly taken into account in the studies of the pharmaceutical companies. Once again, the federal government has made great promises that are now vanishing into thin air. In Germany alone, various pharmaceutical companies were subsidized with 750 million euros in public tax revenue last year so that they manufacture vaccines. Over € 6 billion in public money has been made available across the EU. But now these corporations are refusing to deliver enough vaccine doses. It would not be a problem to expand production capacities quickly and massively. But because this does not pay off for the pharmaceutical companies, such investments are not made. Patents are not released for the same profit reasons, so that other manufacturers worldwide are not able to produce these vaccines.
It is not the lack of capacity, it is the complicity of politics with the pharmaceutical industry that is responsible for the shortage of vaccines and the high costs. In addition, it is now taking revenge that politicians have unilaterally relied on vaccines, while research into effective drugs against Covid-19 has not been and is not promoted.
My video of the week about the vaccine chaos and why we can no longer leave key decisions about our lives and health to the pharmaceutical companies that have gone over dead bodies in the past if it only brought high profits:”

You guessed it: this stinks. Big Pharma has no other interest but business profit. COVID-19 is nothing else but a new market for them.

Scomo on Riots at the Capitol

Most if not all US political leaders spoke of riots, mobs, Trump-supporters, violence, storming in connection with the Trump-induced incidents at the US Capitol in Washington DC. But Australia’s own PM Scomo calls them only “protesters” in his speech today. As if that what happened there was just a protest. Now why might he do that ? Well, his marketing background probably tells him: how can this be useful to me ? He does not like protesters and the Capitol incident seems an ideal tool for tarnishing and criminalising all protesters. This is how he works. He just can’t help it. Instead of condemning the violence and the destruction – and the prior incitement by Trump – he just looks after his own interests.

Protest is a legitimate way of seeking change or correction in a democratic society. The Cambridge Dictionary defines protest as: “a strong complaint expressing disagreement, disapproval, or opposition“. What we saw at the Capitol today clearly was much worse than just a protest. It was criminal forceful, violent and destructive entry by a mob into a government building, just after a Trump speech outside the Capitol. US and other world leaders condemn this with clear words but Scomo just does not get it – again.

“To storm the Capitol, to smash windows, to occupy offices on the floor of the United States Senate, rummaging through desks, on the House of Representatives, threatening the safety of duly elected officials. It’s not protest; it’s insurrection.” Joe Biden. Source: BBC

How Murdoch does what he should not do – fostering climate skepticism

“Funded by GetUp members, Lies, debates, and silences: How News Corp produces climate scepticism in Australia proves not only that News Corp is negative towards climate action, but they’re actively creating debate and confusion while they politicise the issue.

The exhaustive study analysed 8,612 pieces of news, opinion, editorials and letters mentioning climate change across four News Corp publications – The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, Courier Mail, and The Australian – between April 2019 and March 2020, covering the worst bushfire season on record and the massive School Strike 4 Climate protests.”
