I actually thought I did not hear properly. Our deputy PM actually said this:
“They (islanders) will continue to survive, there’s no question they will continue to survive, and they will continue to survive with large aid assistance from Australia.
“They will continue to survive because many of their workers come here and pick our fruit.”
On Thursday he apologised.

My ham radio friend, Jeanne Socrates (76) published this photo on her blog while at the final stage of her non-stop globe circumnavigation in her little boat SV-Nereida. A little old woman and the sea…. willpower and determination on a solid foundation of skill and knowledge. Presently she is avoiding two hurricanes near Hawaii but all is good on board.
