The hidden genocide

Even today, the British empire is still not identified as brutal and genocidal. It is one thing having committed these atrocities over the 400 years of ruling and exploiting the subcontinent and other parts of the world, but not admitting and concealing this inconvenient truth today, is indeed quite another matter. The “human cost” of the empire exceeds by far the Nazi holocaust, which makes the matter even worse.

Odisi temple dancers

Indian Odisi dancing last weekend in Melbourne at Southbank Theatre.

We were lucky to be able to attend a fine Odisi dancing performance by Sam Goraya’s dancing group of three. It is of course a pleasure for the eyes and ears but there is more to it, which cannot be expressed in words.

They are now off to Sydney and Auckland.

Tibet is not China – and will never be

https://www.hrw.org/report/2021/07/06/prosecute-them-awesome-power/chinas-crackdown-tengdro-monastery-and-restrictions

A monk is sentenced to 20 years prison for some petty issue involving earthquake relief donations. After all the damage China did to the fine Tibetan culture, this is happening now. It will be left to a new generation of Chinese leaders to realise the brutal mistakes China has made in Tibet. The current leadership simply lacks a proper understanding of Tibet and its culture.
