Power driven

“Der bloße Machtpolitiker,
wie ihn ein auch bei uns eifrig betriebener Kult zu verklären versucht,
mag stark wirken, aber er wirkt in der Tat ins Leere und Sinnlose.”
     Max Weber (1864- 1920)
     Soziologe & Nationalökonom

“The mere power politician,
as a cult that is also zealously practiced here tries to glorify him,
may seem strong, but in fact it works in emptiness and meaninglessness.”

Max Weber (1864-1920)
sociologist & economist

When consciousness prevails

“As the son of a Liberal premier, I could be in the mix, I could be running a Liberal MP’s campaign. But I can’t. I’m sorry, I don’t want to be rich, nor powerful, at the expense of others. That’s not my business. I don’t claim to be a good person. But I’m trying to be, and that’s more than I can say for many modern Liberal Party MPs.

Their lack of substantive leadership has caused the Liberal Party to lose its way. The commitment to small-l liberal values has collapsed under the weight of party greed and infighting.”

One cannot but admire a young man’s consciousness when he chooses to go the hard way, instead of the easy one. There is more to life than money. Much more.
